Brilliant minds ruled by personal sentiments

12:20 AM February 16, 2016

CHIEF JUSTICE Maria Lourdes Sereno is evidently placing Section 2, Article VII of the 1987 Constitution on trial, not helping to resolve the question on whether Grace Poe, as a foundling, qualifies under the Constitution for the presidency. Ditto with Justice Marvic Leonen who is clearly hell-bent on putting the issue for the voters to decide on election day. Both stands bode ill for the sanctity of the Constitution.

It appears that for personal sentiments, brilliant minds in the Supreme Court can play around critical national issues.

Anyway, that’s the Supreme Court for you today. God save the Philippines!
