When inexperience is a plus

02:11 AM May 22, 2015

With all the plunder accusations being leveled against Vice President Jejomar Binay and his family, it’s a bad idea for him and his camp to use “inexperience” in order to discourage people from supporting the popular Sen. Grace Poe as his potential rival for the presidency.

This same condescending label was used by the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos against Cory Aquino during the presidential campaign in 1985. Tita Cory’s effective counter became an instant hit, and it resonated with the Filipino people: “Totoo po na wala akong experience … sa pagnanakaw!

What’s happening now could very well be a case of history repeating itself. But hopefully with a better ending.
