‘Media killers’ are not taking Aquino seriously

/ 02:22 AM April 20, 2015

I was completely devastated upon learning about the death of Melinda “Mei” Magsino (“Ex-PDI reporter shot dead in Batangas,” Front Page, 4/14/15). Magsino was a dear, good friend I met way back in 2002, when she was still writing for the Inquirer. I am in mourning and will go to her wake in Batangas.
Mei Magsino is the 27th journalist to be killed under the five-year-old Aquino administration. That is an average of six journalists killed each year or one journalist every two months. A frightening statistic. Yet the most that President Aquino says every time a journalist is murdered is that Malacañang condemns the killing. One time, he even said some of the media killings were not work-related.
Hired assassins are not afraid of the President whom they probably consider a joke. They are not scared of P-Noy going after them because they know he is immature and prefers playing video games.RICARDO B. RAMOS, [email protected]
