Kudos to the Inquirer for ‘Peacemakers’ series

/ 12:02 AM April 09, 2015

With a profound sense of gratitude, I congratulate the Inquirer for running the special report on “The Peacemakers” (Front Page, 3/25-28/15). I am praying that the Inquirer will continue to lead in informing the nation about the noblest but quiet efforts of some of our Muslim brothers to carve out their piece of Eden in a benighted part of our beloved land.

The special report was a balm to the soul and lit the path we are treading in our tortuous search for peace. It is certainly a path strewn with so much pain and suffering but one we should all willingly share in order that those of us who sit securely within the confines of our comfort zones may overcome our long-held prejudices against our Moro brothers. Against the tumult and the frenzy of rage spawned by the Mamasapano tragedy, the special report presented a counterforce that made peace an ever more urgent vocation.

Once again, allow me to thank the Inquirer for calling attention to the shining example of brotherhood and decency in some of the heretofore unattended parts of Mindanao.
