Baclaran improvement needs new city mayor’s support

10:45 PM August 19, 2013

In the nine long years Mayor Florencio Bernabe was at the helm of leadership in Parañaque City, the Baclaran area deteriorated. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and the Department of Tourism tried to do a facelift of the area, but with the local leadership giving no support and lacking political will, nothing came out of their efforts.

Thanks to the two international conferences the country is hosting next year and in 2015, the DOT and the Department of Public Works and Highways will renovate and beautify the whole stretch of Roxas Boulevard. In this regard, may I call the attention of newly elected Mayor Edwin Olivarez to extend all-out support to these two departments to ensure the success of the project, specifically in the Baclaran area.

The area fronting Max’s Restaurant has been transformed into a parking lot and has become an informal settlers haven. I would suggest to  Mayor Olivarez to visit the area so he will get a clearer picture and a real feel of what I mean.
