Retiree paging GSIS re delayed pension payment

/ 12:02 AM November 29, 2011

I have been a retiree under Presidential Decree 1146 since 1990 and my 60th birthday was in July 2004. I was supposed to receive my pension starting Aug. 1, 2004. But because I had an unpaid loan balance in the amount of P30,000, inclusive of interests, the Government Service Insurance System deducted it from the net proceeds of my pension.

The small monthly pension of P645 (for 13 years plus creditable service) multiplied by 87 months (Aug. 1, 2004 to November 2011) amounts to P56,000. Minus my loan balance of P30,000, I am still entitled to P26,000. However, the GSIS has not yet paid me the P26,000.

A separate, unpaid policy loan in the amount of more than P2,900 has been settled through automatic deduction, upon the maturity date of my policy certificate, from its cash surrender value.

I am calling the attention of the GSIS management to resolve this urgent matter as soon as possible.
