Doing his job

/ 05:06 AM May 04, 2018

Your report regarding President Duterte’s reply on the closure of Boracay got my attention (“Du30: Don’t pester me, I’m just cleaning up,” 5/2/18).

This is the most logical reply that every responsible official should say with respect to the preservation and protection of this island paradise.

Mr. Duterte sees things that are wrong, unlike officials before him who should have been responsible for the cleanup of Boracay but failed to do so. Mr. Duterte’s firmness to correct things determines the kind of leader that he wants to be. He delivers what he promises to do for the good of this country.

Those officials responsible of keeping Boracay as an island paradise neglected it, leaving it open to abuse. They closed their eyes over misdeeds that wasted the island and allowed these wrongs to get implemented without overseeing closely how they are done.

FEATURED STORIES

I hail Mr. Duterte for saving Boracay and saving this country from the burdens of irresponsible tourism development.

former provincial tourism officer,
